Overview

KARE is an innovative and progressive voluntary HSE Section 38 organization, committed to providing an individualised service based on best practice to over 400 children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families.

Established in 1967, the organization is in existence 50 years and has developed and grown to provide a full range of high quality services in Mid/South Kildare, East Offaly, West Wicklow and North East Carlow. KARE works with each individual who uses the services to support them to develop their skills and abilities so that they can live the life of their choice.

Reporting to the Chair and Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the rights, needs, comfort and safety of service users are our priority. S/he will provide effective leadership and stewardship of KARE so that its supports, services and activities are planned, delivered, sustained and developed in line with the mission, vision and values of KARE.

The Chief Executive Officer will be accountable to the Board for the Corporate Governance of the organisation so that it is accountable and transparent in its dealings with funders, stakeholders and local communities. The Chief Executive Officer is supported by the Executive Management Team. There are over 400 employees and volunteers in total and a budget allocation across the regions of approximately €22 Million. Key relationships include the HSE at National and Regional levels, the National Federation of Voluntary Bodies as an Umbrella Organisation representing the interests of Service Providers as well as with the various National Bodies Representing the interests of Service Users and their families.

It is expected that applicants will have a proven track record of extensive Leadership experience at a strategic level in the disability sector; A relevant third level Health, Social Care or Professional qualification; Post Graduate qualification in Management is desirable; Experience of managing coordination and collaboration with other service organisations, agencies and HSE; Background of implementing a systemic approach to Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement.
